Agendra Kumar (Patiala, India - 1961)
An alumnus of BITS, Pilani, Agendra has been associated with the field of IT for over two decades. He currently works as Director of Global Accounts in Asia Pacific and Japan Region for Symantec Corporation.
His long cherished passion – photography, lay dormant while he moved up the corporate ladder. With the encouragement of family and a few friends, he agreed to exhibit some photographs from the collection he built over the years in his first exhibition ‘Symphony of Silence’ in 2004. Since then, there has been no looking back. He has had many shows including the recent “Silhouttes etc” at Visual Arts Gallery New Delhi and “Quiet flows the Pampa” at Apparao Infinity, Chennai, in Nov 07
Creativity primarily involves working on the various aspects of the same theme. This is precisely what Agendra does. Having identified nature and heritage as his primary 'models' Agendra has photographed the various facets, moods and themes of the natural world and historical edifices.
His pictures, be they of stark ruins, imposing structures or vast emptiness, evoke a sense of timelessness. The 'innate ability and sensitivity to look beyond the obvious in an otherwise ordinary and oft repeated frame' is his USP. He gives an artistic touch to the subject and his trademark light-play lends evocativeness to the frames. There is no frenzy – only a sense of all pervading peace and calm.
Agendra currently lives and works in Delhi.
